RAILWAYS IN THE UK The Bure Valley Railway is, like us, 15 inch gauge, but much longer. It runs through beautiful Norfolk countryside and operates Boat Trains to Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads. The Eastleigh Lakeside Railway is 7 ¼ and 10 ¼ gauge with a quite outstanding collection of engines – some of which are important to the history of miniature railways. The Fairbourne Railay offers some of the best panoramic views of Snowdonia and takes passengers to the delightful ferry crossing to Barmouth. Britain’s oldest miniature railway is at Rhyl. In recent years a huge transformation has taken place turning this 15″ gauge line from a shadow of its original glory to, probably, the best condition it has ever been in. This has been a remarkable achievement. The Rudyard Lake Railway runs alongside a beautiful lake in Staffordshire. The 15″ gauge Sherwood Forest Railway has lots of character and is in a farm park where there is lots to do. The Bolebroke Castle Miniature Railway is an interesting 7¼” gauge miniature railway RAILWAYS AROUND THE WORLD The Chemin de Fer Touristique d’Anse is, the only 15 inch gauge railway in France. Geoff’s Rail Diaries are a great resource for anyone who wants to explore the world of small railways over the last 40 years. Geoff took pictures and videos of the little trains which used to work on industrial railways – sadly almost all have gone, swept away by new kinds of machinery or in some cases the loss of whole industries. The Narrow Gauge Railway Society is the leading society in the Uk for people who like narrow gauge railways. MODEL-MAKING & MINIATURE RAILWAYS If you want your own miniature railway and don’t think you have enough space you should look at Ride On Railways who supply 5″ gauge equipment – it’s amazing where you can fit it in! Modellers of 15″ gauge railways usually find their way to the Gn15 site which has been running for a few years now. SUPPLIERS Krystal host our website. They are really, really good. I went through a spell when I wouldn’t recommend any ISPs or hosts – they all seemed to be uniformly bad. When I think of the time I have wasted when ISPs and hosting companies have let me down it makes me feel ill. Krystal are different. We originally intended to have a long list here of all those who have helped to build or run the Perrygrove Railway, but we are finding this an impossible task, with the ever-present risk of leaving names off inadvertently. Therefore we would just like to say that we do appreciate all the help we are given, without which there would be no railway.
